Graduation from the Past

I attended a graduation of ten ladies who were going home from the recovery center, which is where I volunteer and hold a church service. At any given time, 100 ladies reside at the center going through a nine-month program, with a few taking nearly a year to complete their rehab.

Yesterday three of the ladies spoke, with one sharing how poetry helped her to express her feelings. Another grad shared her appreciation of the staff and to her family. The third did the same. Tears formed in my eyes, as these dear ladies become my friends for life.

We all mess up. We hurt others. We make choices that lead us astray. We need love. We need redemption. We need hope.

Once one of the girls graduated and went home only to fall back into a pattern that eventually took her life. My prayer for each lady is that she sees herself redeemed and whole, precious and new in Jesus. I hope the ladies discover how life with clear thoughts and with God holding them is possible.

Check out my blog Purple Ladies in Recovery and subscribe to it. Each Monday I'll post a blog something about our service from the day before.

Maybe ... you need hope. Maybe ... you will let Jesus touch you with His healing hand. Maybe ... the path in front of you will feel like graduation to a new chapter of life, one with fresh starts and a whole lot of poetry.

A Verse for You

Hope ... found in Jesus. Found in His Word.
